In the 13th podcast episode of the Legendary Leaders series, we chat with Alisa Barcan, founder and owner of the Savvy Corner. As a Certified Chartered Accountant and Coach, Alisa helps people to rewrite their financial situation if they don’t have the confidence to do it themselves. She supports others to create a comfortable financial situation for themselves, looking at the practicalities of money as well as managing their mindset around money.
Alisa also works with business owners looking at their pricing strategy and charges. She explains the importance of separating your own value and the value of what your business offers and the services it provides, so that you can charge what your services are worth, and not get hung up on your personal worth.
Alisa shares some frank insights and explains that having a successful business isn’t just about an amazing business strategy and plan, but the need to truly believe that you can achieve it all. If you can’t find that self-belief, then it simply won’t work.
Alisa takes us through the process of working with her clients to look at their ‘money story’, whereby they write down everything about their current financial situation. She explains how she then takes the story extracting only the facts from it, to get rid of beliefs and emotions that we attach to money, enabling people to focus on the real situation in front of them.
Alisa takes us through her background growing up in Romania and the financial challenges that presented. She goes on to explain how she arrived at her current career choice and built up her qualifications and experience to pursue her passion. For Alisa, money is not a goal, it is simply an enabler for something else.
